History

During Fall 2006, Zoraida Velasco recognized there was a need in the community for college students to get more involved and decided to act upon it by creating a non-for-profit organization. She began by creating MSPNA (Minority Student Professional Networking Association) which later became what today is known as Future Minority Leaders.

Zoraida found Helen Pastrana who was very interested in MSPNA's cause and decide to help her promote and build the organization. By December they had recruited Dr. John Banko as their faculty advisor and submitted their constitution for approval to the University of Central Florida's Office of Student Involvement to be recognized as an official UCF organization.

These two ladies realized that most of their friends were graduating from college and the great majority of them had no idea where or how to take the next step into beginning their professional careers. They decided that through this non-for-profit organization they would provide college students and recent graduates with the opportunities to:
